client experience is the pareto principle

dictated, unscripted. lightly cleaned up. highlighted parts were extended by my editor-in-silicon and approved by me.

in video production — in any service industry — the pareto principle that stands strongest is client experience. if you want to optimize one thing for 20% of the effort and 80% of the results, it is client experience. excellent client experience means referrals keep coming, more work keeps coming from the same client, and you keep unlocking new horizontals and verticals with them.

a common misconception here: "it's okay if you deliver late as long as it's good." this mindset is perfect if you are an employee inside a company. it is absolutely imperfect for a client deliverable. genuinely think about it — clients don't know what good looks like. that is why they are with a premium agency, that is why they pay a premium price. when someone pays premium and the work lands two days later than committed, it leaves a very bad impression — on the agency, on the organization, on everything. you might think it's fine. it genuinely isn't.

if you were an employee, i'd totally agree — say upfront it takes two days, take two days, get it done. look at the seat you are sitting in and act accordingly. an employee delivering late gets a warning. an agency delivering late gets fired.
