your job as a founder is equilibrium

dictated, unscripted. lightly cleaned up. highlighted parts were extended by my editor-in-silicon and approved by me.

your role as a founder is always going to be bringing some equilibrium into your venture. as jai rightly said on the capita podcast (which we shot and edited) — being a founder and a ceo is a lot more about people. the most difficult factor to manage is people.

people's moods and the way they feel is everything in your organization. you might not take emotions into consideration while making an analysis, but it is one of the biggest unfactorable, unassumable variables of your business, and it needs to be kept in check.

when people are too happy, something is about to fuck up: either you are going to lose revenue, or you haven't given them enough work. often everyone is happy because everyone is in a phase of delusion. i'm not saying depress them — but figure it out, give them work, bring in a small reality check.

if people are down, it is not sustainable for the long term, so make changes there. cheer them up. take them out for a coffee, give them a meal, give them compliments. it's easy man, it's not that hard. believe me — you just need to be a bit more approachable.

just bring equilibrium. that is the whole job.
