I have a crude way of sorting people in creative work. Some have vision. Some have taste.
The vision person can watch an hour of footage and tell you which three minutes matter. The taste person can take those three minutes and make them look fucking beautiful. One decides what deserves attention. The other decides how that attention should feel.
This is not a personality test and it is definitely not a licence to stereotype someone by where they come from. It is a task-allocation shortcut based on work you have actually seen them do.
Give a taste-obsessed person a team-management job and they may polish every output while the system collapses. Give a vision person the same mess and they may redesign the workflow, cut the cost, and accidentally forget that humans have feelings.
The useful question is not which one is better. It is: what kind of problem is sitting in front of you right now?
If you need to find the story, use vision. If you already know the story and need it presented properly, use taste. If someone has both, protect their focus because their brain is probably trying to redesign the entire company before lunch.
